Welcome to Summer
Welcome to summer!!
Isn’t it wonderful to see the sun at last? It was a long winter but over the past few months I have slowly come out of my winter hibernation and have enjoyed engaging with the world a bit more. In fact I have been quite busy!
So what have I been up to?
I was very honoured to be asked to give a talk to the Royal Photographic Society Digital Imaging Group on the subject of abstract photography. This was closely followed by the Arena Seminar.
Arena Seminar 2025
I had a lot of fun at the Arena seminar in March and despite stage nerves, really enjoyed giving a talk to such a lovely audience.
Plans are already afoot for next years event which will be on 6th-8th March 2026 so save the date!
Find out more about Arena Photographers
Since the Arena Seminar there have been a couple of trips – one to Bruges and another to Bridlington in Yorkshire. Quite different as places go (although both begin with B) but both enjoyable in different ways. I am still to go through all the photos from these trips as I have been busy getting ready for an exhibition which starts very soon!!!
One thing which has come out of all this though is the beginnings of a new project, as yet unnamed, but it will be my response to the disappearing line of WW2 coastal defence structures and the way these are slowly being assimilated into the landscape. I suppose this is a natural progression from my Listen project about the Sound Mirrors. I will be including some of this new work in the Form Frame and Fire exhibition in Seaford starting on 21st May

The importance of play.
I have recently been doing an online workshop with Paul Sanders of Discover Still called “Disruptive behaviour” – it’s all about freeing ourselves to play with our images, by tearing, collaging, writing things adding metal foil etc. I love to hand finish my work so this was such a lot of fun. Thanks Paul and all the other inspiring artists on the course.
Biblioscapes
Back in March I was interviewed by Euan Ross for his Biblioscapes podcast.
It was lovely to chat about my books with him. Books are something I really enjoy creating so I am planning to do more of this.
Online exhibition – The Meditative Lens
I was very pleased to have a couple of images from my Gestures of Love series featured in an online exhibition.
New Beginnings Exhibition.
Gallery North, Hailsham
I am very pleased to have two works chosen to be part of this curated exhibition at the lovely Gallery North in Hailsham.
The exhibition closed on 24th May, so if in the area do pop along, there is lots of amazing work on display
Looking Ahead
I have two shows coming up in the very near future. Form, Frame and Fire is in just over a week’s time!!
There will be a ‘Meet the Artist’ day on Saturday 24th May, so do pop along and say hello if in the area of Seaford.
Form, Frame & Fire
An exhibition of ceramics, jewellery, painting & photography.
I am delighted to take part in this exciting exhibition bringing together 4 Sussex artists working in 4 different mediums, each bringing their own unique perspective to their work.
Other artists are Chris Schneider (paintings), Jayne Luscombe (jewellery) and Charlie Todman (ceramics).

South East Open Studios
South East Open Studios (SEOS) is one of the most established annual open artist studio events in the UK and has been running since 1996; it takes place during the month of June, showcasing creative talent, and strengthening visual arts in our corner of the South East.
I have participated in this event for the past two years and look forward to doing so again this year.
I will be sharing studio space at Tarnhurst in Buxted for the first 3 weekends in June.
More details to follow.
