L'art de la vie quotidienne: art of everyday life
Sussex Contemporary 2025
I am very excited to have had two pieces of work selected for this annual juried exhibition.
The theme was The Art of Everyday Life which gave a lot of scope for interpretation. One of the key features of my everyday life is having a cup of tea, so I thought about ways in which I could represent this. Having spent the summer playing with cyanotype printing I thought this might be the way to go. Cockney rhyming slang for tea is “Rosie Lee” so I created a multiple exposure image of a teapot and some roses and printed this using the cyanotype process. To add integrity I used tea bag paper for the print. I had such fun doing this and after many false starts finally acheived an image I was happy with.
The ther image which was selected was an image called “Torn” which shows the accidental art which is around us everyday in the form of scaps left behind by torn posters on billboards and hoardings.
The exhibition is on throughout Novemebr 2025, Thursday to Saturday 10-4 at the BN9 Studios, Marine workshops, Newhaven – a beautifil venue with stunning light and far reaching views.
